New Venture Funds
The
program is designed to give U of L people the best possible opportunity
for success as their entrepreneurial discoveries convert to profitable
enterprises. Its purpose is to provide a seamless, simple route for University
of Louisville faculty, staff, students and alumni to take their innovations
to the marketplace. The program does this by providing business assistance
and, in most cases, investment capital. The Foundation anticipates that
its investments will benefit U of L by returning income to its foundation,
which will further support the University’s mission.
“One
of the ways the Foundation helps the University and its strategic priorities
is by supporting the link between academic research and the private sector.
The Foundation has earmarked approximately $3 million for new ventures
program, which will be used to help faculty, staff, students and alumni
take their inventions and research out into the private sector. The Foundation
provides investment capital in the early stages of a research-related
business, which can make all the difference.”
